We are proud to announce that the doyen of publishing, Mr. Asoke K. Ghosh, Chairman of PHI Learning, has been honoured by National Book Trust(NBT)for his ‘Outstanding Contribution to the World Publishing’ in the Theme Pavilion of the ‘New Delhi World Book Fair’ on March 5, 2023. This is the special honour presented by NBT, an apex body of publishing, to someone who is greatly respected and regarded as the ‘Father of Indian Publishing. This is the big honour which has been presented for the first time to any publisher'.

On this ceremonial occasion the Hon’ble Director of NBT, Lt. Col. Yuvraj Malik, felicitated Mr. Ghosh with the Golden words, Dhruva Tara—The Pole Star. The way the brightest star ‘Dhruva Tara’ helps sailors and travellers navigate the directions whilst they are on voyages, Mr. Ghosh has always been a mentoring guide to the publishers across the world. He has consistently supported them and offered his valuable advice to the people in the industry from time to time to improve norms and maintain a righteous and upward trajectory of publishing.

The grand ceremony was witnessed by many other prominent personalities from the publishing industry, such as Mr. Ramesh K. Mittal(Director, D.K. Agencies Pvt. Ltd.), Mr. Ashok Gupta(Managing Director, Unicorn Books Pvt. Ltd.), Mr. Naveen Gupta(Managing Director, Arya Publishing House), and Mr. Pranav Gupta(Managing Director, Prints Publications Pvt.Ltd.).

It was a moment of pride for us as well as the Indian publishing industry as we share with the news that our Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Asoke Ghosh, has been awarded the First IPA Champion Award for going above and beyond the norm to help the IPA achieve its goals on behalf of the publishing industry. The award was presented by Mr. Hugo Setzer, Past IPA President during the 33rd International Publishers Congress, taking place in Jakarta, Indonesia from 10-12 November 2022.

This is the first ever award given in IPA's 125 years of history, to recognize contribution to publishing. In the last 5 decades Mr. Ghosh has contributed by working tirelessly for promoting IPA values. He is the first Asian to become the Vice President of International Publishers Association(IPA), the apex body of world publishing. He has served in practically all the committees of the IPA, including the Copyright Committee, the Freedom to Publish Committee, the Electronic Publishing Committee, Reading Committee and the Inclusive Publishing and Literacy Committee. In 1991, IPA gave him its highest Outstanding Leadership Award for his "commitment to the protection of creativity and freedom to publish". He changed the course of Indian publishing and raised its profile globally by being instrumental in bringing the 24th IPA Congress to New Delhi in 1992 for the very first time.

We are proud to share that PHI Learning has won the Second Prize for Excellence in Book Publishing 2022 for their book Financial Accounting: A Managerial Perspective, Seventh Edition written by IIM Professor R. Narayanaswamy. We thank The Federation of Indian Publishers for the same.

The awards ceremony was held on Friday, September 30, 2022, at The Claridges in New Delhi. Dr. Vinay Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, Indian Council of Cultural Relations(ICCR)gave away the awards.
