S.N. THAKUR is Honorary Professor, Department of Physics, Banaras Hindu University (BHU). He has many years of experience in teaching atomic and molecular spectroscopy and laser physics. He has worked in many overseas spectroscopy labs and carried out several research projects on high resolution spectroscopy. Dr. Thakur’s research areas include the development of photo-acoustic spectroscopy, two-photon spectroscopy, and laser-induced spectroscopy. He has published more than 125 papers in various national and international journals and has authored two books, Laser-induced Breakdown Spectroscopy and Atomic Spectra Structure and Modern Spectroscopy (co-authored with Dr. D.K. Rai).
(Late) D.K. RAI was Honorary Professor, Department of Physics, BHU. With more than 40 years of experience in teaching Physics, he conducted many post-doctoral researches at various institutes in India and abroad. He published more than 250 papers in many international journals on subjects dealt with in this book and allied areas.
