D.P. KOTHARI, Ph.D., is presently Chairman, Board of Governers, THDC Institute of Hydropower Engineering and Technology, Uttarakhand. Earlier he served as Vice-Chancellor of VIT University, Vellore and Director-General of VITS, Indore. He also served as Director-in-Charge, IIT Delhi (2005), Deputy Director (Administration), IIT Delhi (2003–2006), Principal, VNIT, Nagpur (1997–1998) and Head, Centre for energy Studies, IIT Delhi (1995–1997) and Director-Research, S.B. Jain Institute of Technology and Research, Nagpur (2016–2017)

Dr. Kothari fields of specialization include optimal hydro-thermal scheduling, unit commitment, maintenance scheduling, energy conservation, and power quality and energy systems planning and modelling. A recipient of several national award Dr. Kothari has contributed extensively to these areas, guided 48 Ph.D.s and 65 M.Tech.s, authored 42 books on Power Systems and allied areas, and published/presented 780 research papers in various national and international journals/conferences.


I. J. NAGRATH MS (Wisconsin University), was Professor and Deputy Director, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. He has published several research papers in prestigious journals. Professor Nagrath has worked across a wide range of areas including Controls Electric Machines, Power Systems, Signal and System, Robotics and Electronics. Electronics:Analog and Digital and Electronic Devices and Circuits are his two popular books, published by PHI Learning. Besides, he has authored and co-authored many books in this areas.
