D.K. SHARMA, MBBS, DPM (Psy.), MHA, is Medical Superintendent of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and has more than 25 years of experience in hospital administration. He is a Fellow/Life Member of several professional and scientific associations such as International Medical Sciences Academy (IMSA), Academy of Hospital Administration, Indian Hospital Association, Indian Society of Health Administration and Indian Medical Association. Dr. Sharma has also published more than 30 articles in journals of National and International repute, besides being the author/editor of books and manuals in the field of Health Services and Hospital Administration.
R.C. GOYAL, Ph.D. (Hospital Personnel Administration), MBA (Hospital Administration), MA (Social Work), LLB, PG Diploma in Labour Laws has served with distinction as Head, Personnel Department, Holy Family Hospital (New Delhi). He is now associated with the hospital in ISO 9001:2000, and National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH), training, legal matters and in general, and medical administration. Besides, he has also been a Ph.D. examiner of Jamia Millia Islamia. He has published several articles in reputed national journals such as Indian Hospital Association, Journal of the Academy of Hospital Administration, Consumer Protection Journal, and Management Review. He coined the definition of ‘hospital’ in his PhD thesis in 1982 and WHO defined it some time after 1992.
