CHANDIGARH: From the academic session 2015-16, Panjab University (PU) will introduce the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and Credit Framework for Skill Development (CFSD). CBCS allows a student to choose a paper from other faculty – allowing more scope for multi-disciplinary studies.
The proposal, which comes after a recommendation by University Grants Commission (UGC) to institutions of higher education, will be tabled in the meeting of the PU syndicate on Sunday, March 8.
Earlier in January this year, UGC chairperson Ved Prakash has sent a communication to PU vice chancellor Arun Kumar Grover proposing the introduction of the system, subsequent to a meeting convened by the resource development ministry.
