OMR Sheets to be used for the First Time in this year’s CBSE Board Exams

This would be the first time when the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets in the examination. From this year onwards the students would be asked to fill out OMR sheets in order to enter their personal details in the examination paper rather than previously used method of writing out of each and every line manually.

Principal of Centre Point School, Sumathi Venugopalan said, “Students must take their time and carefully fill out the OMR sheets. They get 15 minutes to complete this formality and must do so with a very calm mind.” In order to make evaluation process error free and less time consuming the board has taken this step. This step is a major push towards the government’s desire to digitize the whole education system and create a digitally advanced India. There would also be further provisions for digital evaluations by the board. This was launched last year and the board has decided to continue the same and sorted many errors in judgment while checking the papers.

The examinations of the Class X board exam have started from Monday but due to the fact that the first day examination was of an optional paper, the appearing students were quite low. The gaps in the enrolment figures were very fast if compared with the state boards. On every 4,000 students that appeared for CBSE Std X in city almost 50,000 appeared for the state board SSC examination.
