Common Management Admission Test (CMAT), through which management aspirants get admissions to various B-schools in the nation, would now get conducted only once a year. The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has decided the same recently and has set to implement the same from next academic session. Previously the exam got conducted twice a year, giving an additional chance to the aspiring management candidates to get admissions in the B-Schools of their choices.
The CMAT was scheduled for September this year but this got delayed for some reasons and the exam would only take place next year in January. The candidates who were waiting for the test this year would now have to wait for January. According to Avinash S. Pant, the Vice Chairman of AICTE “Since 2012, AICTE has been conducting CMAT twice in an academic year during September and February for admission to PG programmes in management. But, now it will be conducted once in a year. For CMAT schedules in January 2016, a notification will be released soon.”
The council had ascertained the candidates waiting for the notification to get that they would take out the notification by first week of August. But due to negligence in the part of the council it didn’t come out till mid-August. The official notification regarding the test which was due in September would also delay. Candidates would be informed about their admit cards and other examination details later.
